We challenge you to join this growing team as an experienced Care Area Specialist for our Patient Monitoring business.  Covidien is a worldwide leader in patient monitoring solutions, offering bedside and handheld pulse oximeters and a broad selection of pulse oximetry and brain monitoring sensors. These noninvasive devices provide immediate and accurate data that allows clinicians to identify problems early. This position offers you the opportunity to play a vital role in driving utilization of our products in the assigned territory and to the overall growth of our business.
Position Summary:
As a Care Area Specialist, your focus is to increase the customer retention rate and broaden Covidien Patient Monitoring product adoption in existing accounts, and to provide pre and post-sale support. 
Key Responsibilities:
As a Care Area Specialist you will work as a cross-functional team member led by the Care Area Manager (CAM), providing clinical support for BIS, INVOS, SPO2 and capnography applications to internal and external customers, including the sales team, and occasionally the OEM business partners.  Clinical support includes clinical applications, education regarding product theory and technology, monitor operation, and appropriate use of disposable accessories for various clinical settings.   The Regional Clinical Application Specialist is actively involved pre and post-sale to identify and foster elements, processes and champions that result in successful product adoption. 
  • Manage regional accounts to drive utilization of all products within the local geography
  • Provide clinical support for BIS, INVOS, SPO2 and capnography applications on primarily a regional basis to customers. Also supporting OEM business partners from time to time as directed 
  • Presales Support
  • Develop institutional adoption champions
  • Stimulate / support / facilitate clinical champions in development of institutional policies and processes
  • Clinical differentiation of all products with emphasis on BIS, INVOS and capnography portfolios, as well as SPO2 as needed
  • Sales Representative Support
  • Educate, observe, and evaluate Sales Representatives in the field, as needed.
  • Drive successful selling strategies into the field
  • Assist in clinical evaluations, but not as primary leader
  • Customer Intimacy
  • Provide and maintain profiles for all regional facilities within the assigned geography including monitor types, number of sockets, utilization rates, key decision makers, and trends within the facilities including clinical practice.
  • Support post market surveillance and customer defection programs
  • Recruit and maintain reference accounts
  • Demonstrate solid understanding of the clinical application of all products
  • Interface with members of the marketing/management team and communicate clinical needs and trends that impact all Covidien products
  • Apply product and clinical knowledge to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Assist the marketing department with the development and support of sales and marketing materials
  • Provide support to key decision makers and clinicians throughout the assigned geography
  • Support local, regional and national trade shows as required
  • Provide support and In-Service Training in conducting evaluations of Covidien technology
  • Provide feedback to marketing and upper management on product releases, promotional programs, and effectiveness of tools provided
Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Nursing or equivalent from a four-year college or university.

3 years of experience in a business environment
5-7 years of  clinical experience as an RN or licensed clinician; ICU or OR experience highly preferred
Experience in patient monitoring in a variety of care settings.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex, geographically-distributed organization with multiple value streams

Travel minimum of 75% in assigned region.

In depth understanding of consumable adoption process
Experience developing educational tools
Experience with Capnography
Skills/Competencies:
Clear understanding of conceptual sales process
