INVISTA's Performance Surfaces & Materials business is currently seeking a Territory Account Manager AKA Strategic Account Manager for a combined territory of Houston, San Antonio, Texas and southern Louisiana. The position will be home-based in the Houston area and requires a minimum of 40-50% overnight travel.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for developing the STAINMASTER® brand flooring business in the above mentioned markets. The selected candidate will be responsible for the aligned retailers, driving market share and volume in territory, including increasing the number of customers; developing and executing account plans; knowledge of the STAINMASTER® carpet portfolio and key benchmarks not only in the brands good/better/best product categories but also in the competitive marketplace.
Additional responsibilities include: placement and growth of specific STAINMASTER® carpet fiber platforms and recruiting and maintaining retailers to the STAINMASTERĂ‚® aligned network, including the STAINMASTER FLOORING CENTER® and STAINMASTER SHOWCASE(SM) retail programs.
The selected individual will also be required to stay current on market trends and economic indicators (housing starts, population and commerce growth, flooring advertising, et al) in the Demographic Marketing Areas (DMAs) within the assigned territory.
Job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and optimize relationships with flooring manufacturer representatives in territory to place product and drive growth.
- Training store owners and retail sales associates (RSA) on product and selling. techniques. Educate the retail network about online tools and information from STAINMASTER® carpet.
- Balance time and travel schedule in the assigned territory to maximize the number of touch points with aligned retailers.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills writing, presentations, interpersonal and negotiation.
- Entrepreneurial takes ownership for generating results in the assigned territory and can overcome obstacles to business growth
- Work independently.
Skills & Experience Required:
- At least 3 years of outside sales experience, including building up a customer base in assigned market.
- Experience in cold calling, ability to quickly build rapport with customers, understand needs and identify decision makers.
- Dedicated space to maintain a home office
- Ability to travel up to 50%, including overnight travel
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel (spreadsheet creation/ editing, pivot tables, formula creation, etc.), PowerPoint (Presentation creation/editing), and Word (creating and modifying documents and tables)
Skills & Experience Preferred:
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools is an advantage e.g. Salesforce.com
Education:
- A four-year college degree, preferred
