Position Summary: Plan, implement and supervise project safety, incident investigation, drug and alcohol, DOT compliance and fire protection programs in compliance with corporate safety program standards.
Overall Responsibilities and Duties (Essential Functions):
Monitor hazardous working conditions and mitigate unsafe employee activities through safety management, training and coordination with supervisory personnel.
- Identify, document and correct unsafe site conditions in coordination with site operations management.
- Supervise and administer safety/first aid activities including work assignments, personnel administration, staffing and training.
- Implement site safety program in compliance with corporate LTC directives and programs.
- Assist corporate program by conducting employee safety orientation training program.
- Conduct work area surveillance, audits, inspections, air sampling tests for confined space entry, property damage and personal injury investigations.
- Document all accidents, safety violations, and unsafe conditions/activities.
- Review documentation to insure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and implement appropriate corrective action as required.
- Accompany all safety, health and insurance inspectors on walk through tours.
- Coordinate/assist corporate safety in preparing written appeals for safety violation citations.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties:
· Assist with medical surveillance as necessary.
· Compliance Record Keeping
Qualifications/Job Specification:
- Education/Length of Experience:
- Master’s degree and 2-4 years of construction related experience; or
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and 4-6 years of construction related experience.
- Extensive construction related safety experience can be substituted for a degree
- Secret Security clearance required.
- Certifications
- First Aid/CPR/AED
- OSHA 30-hr Construction
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with ACOE EM-385
- Strong Communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite software
- Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company regulations.
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures is essential.
**This is a temporary position for a project slated to end April 2014**
