Description of Work:
Sr. Catheter Engineer
We are seeking an experienced, high caliber, experienced mechanical/plastics engineering professional who will actively participate in and help lead advanced development efforts for the SJM Optical Coherence Tomography Systems.

· Lead and participate in early stage design (proof of concept) of innovative imaging catheters and other related novel devices.
· Maintains a detailed understanding of the developing clinical environment (i.e. current treatment methods, evolving clinical needs etc.
· Design devices to meet user needs.
· Establish requirements and specifications for these devices (including justification and supportive testing).
· Use experimental, empirical and numerical analysis to evaluate designs. Lead test method and model development.
· Transfer Concept design to internal development teams or external vendors.
· Provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties and processes to aid in engineering and production planning.
· May supervise engineers and technicians assigned to projects.
· Ensure requirements PDP and Quality System are followed.
Required Qualifications:
· BSME or BS Plastics Engineering.
· Minimum 5 years' experience in medical devices.
· Analytical analysis and Numerical Modeling experience (fluid flow, mechanical stiffness).
· CAD Experience in Solidworks, ProE or similar.
· Polished communicator - written documentation and oral presentations/ discussions/ meetings.
· Excellent reputation for building relationships across various levels of an organization.
· Organized, on-time, and detailed project management skills.
· Energized attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS Plastics Engineering.
- Background in developing catheters or other Class III devices.
- Plastics injection molding and/or extrusion experience highly desirable.
- Experience with a variety of manufacturing processes a plus.
