Quality Manager - North Clarendon, Vermont



Overview:
The Quality Manager is responsible for defining and communicating a vision and supporting strategies for meeting quality and delivery commitments to customers while complying with all regulatory requirements. The Quality Manager is also responsible for creating a plan to implement the quality vision and designing and implementing cost-effective business and quality systems to achieve these important goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage all Quality related objectives and projects to ensure that established business goals are met. Focus on developing and managing the process of continuous improvement of plant performance.
  • Ensure that all daily production needs are supported through the efforts of the Quality staff at all levels.
  • Understand and effectively use all functions of Vantage as it relates to Quality.
  • Respond to customer issues when identified. This will include traveling to the customer as necessary.
  • Working with Manufacturing Operations, identify the Key Performance Indicators for the plant. Develop systems to determine performance. Summarize plant performance for management review.
  • Use the Ellison Group Objectives, Goals, Strategy and Metrics method to define changes to the plant business processes. This includes creating action plans to support objectives.
  • Manage the efforts to identify and communicate opportunities for improvement. Support annual budgeting efforts. Create tracking systems to define gaps in business system performance
  • Maintain necessary approvals and ensure compliance with established quality parameters (ISO, AS9100, Nadcap, etc.). Lead the changes required to improve system performance and upgrade certifications.
  • Ensure the completion of quality related documentation. Use these tools to respond to customer concerns and manage process improvements.
  • Provide the leadership necessary for successful responses to corrective action requests. Use a team approach to changing production processes and business systems. Document the changes. Provide work instructions. Develop training programs. Train current and new operators where appropriate.
  • Develop and manage systems to meet the following needs:
    • Continuous improvement
    • Process control and product testing
    • First article inspection
    • Dock audits
    • Corrective action
    • Control of nonconforming material and rework processes
    • Control of plant quality records
Key Performance Measurements:
  • Completion of action plans in a timely manner. Meet project commitments.
  • Maintain quality system certification to minimize and respond to audit findings within the time frame specified by the certification agency
  • Corrective actions are successfully implemented. Reporting is completed in a timely manner.
  • Accurately completed documents to meet the customer request dates.
  • Completed tracking reports for Key Performance Indicators each month.
  • Reduced customer complaints.
  • Evidence that the knowledge gained through Quality efforts is pro-actively integrated into the engineering and production processes.
  • Improvement in first pass yield and reduction in cost of poor quality.
  • A record retention system that is well organized. The ability to provide lot quality data and certification for all production lots.


Job Requirements

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Time split between office and factory environment.
  • May lift 5-30lbs throughout the day depending on project being worked on.
  • High degree of attention to detail involved in testing parts and powders
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate to senior management, customers and plant personnel
  • Ability to lead and facilitate team problem solving.
  • Positive approach to changing objectives and priorities
  • Performs own role effectively on team and helps team members as needed
  • Remains consistent in detail orientation and will not permit careless effort
  • Abreast of technical developments in the field
  • Well-developed statistical skills
    • SPC
    • Sampling theory
    • Hypothesis testing
  • Technical degree in a related field with 5 years of quality experience. Two of those five years as a Quality Engineer, or, Associates Degree in industrial field with 8 years of experience. Two of those 8 years as a Quality Manager
Desirable Previous Experience:
  • Previous experience in Quality in an Aerospace or part coating environment
