Job: Packaging Engineer

Pilkington North America manufactures and markets flat and safety glass for the building and automotive markets. Its sales are made up of 73 percent automotive products and 27 percent building products. The North American automotive business is made up of 56 percent Original Equipment (OE) and 44 percent Automotive Glass Replacement (AGR). The Group has six float glass lines, six automotive glass fabrication operations, and a network of some 100+ wholesale centers supplying automotive replacement glass.

Job Title:  Packaging Engineer                                       Reports To:  Packaging Manager Location:  Northwood, OH                                                            Department:  Procurement Primary Duties: Work as part of a team of packaging engineers in the areas of: ·         Design innovations to minimize glass handling and/or use of materials and associated costs within Pilkington and at external plants ·         Standardizing packaging designs and specifications ·         Lead Pilkington sites and external customers on design modifications to improve existing packages and reduce costs ·         Manage a portfolio of projects (developing packaging solutions for new business) ·         Assist Supply Chain and Logistics group when introducing new packs to minimize capital investment and inventories ·         Provide training to internal and external customers for pallet loading, unloading, and stacking/handling ·         Assist NMI teams with packaging requirement information (investments, type, quantities) when quoting new programs Qualifications Required: ·         BS Degree – Engineering discipline ·         1+ years experience in the glass, automotive or similar industry ·         Ability to travel (estimated 30-50%) ·         CAD proficiency ·         Excellent organization, project management, communication skills ·         Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office ·         Proactive – results oriented Qualifications Desired: ·         Packaging Engineering Degree ·         Knowledge of Six Sigma quality tools We offer an excellent compensation and benefits package, which includes 401k, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, company paid holidays, paid vacations, and education assistance.
