GIS Analyst (Oil / Gas)

Our company is seeking a talented GIS Analyst.  The Analyst for GIS Systems will be an IT professional with understanding of E&P Upstream GIS applications and data management methodologies. This position is responsible for working with the business providing technical GIS application and data integrity support.

Job Requirements:

• Provides hands on application and geo data management support, training, and problem solving for the current suite of geospatial applications
• Administers GIS systems and databases including ArcGIS10, Tobin GIS Studio, Web Apps, SQL Server 2008 & 2010, ArcGIS Server - SDE and various other oil and gas data sources and spatial tools
• Manages installation, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting of the spatial system infrastructure including databases, schemas, software, user applications, and hardware
• Coordinates activities between end users, operations and vendors to help implement, promote, and support a standardized approach to GIS and spatial data management
• Assists in the planning, design, development, quality review, and deployment of new applications and enhancements to applications as requested
• Proactively evaluates and recommends new application technologies for the productivity enhancement of the end-users
• Develops application user and administrator procedures and how-to’s and maintains company knowledgebase
• Maintains detailed application architecture and interface documentation, the exchanged data and purpose of interfacing systems
• Works with the business users, database administrators and business process analysts to integrate the geo spatial databases into the corporate geo and business data warehouses

Job Requirements

Must have:

• Bachelor’s degree with a major in computer science or information systems
• 5+ years of experience supporting technical efforts in the delivery of GIS technology solutions and data standardization projects
• GISP and/or CMS certifications preferred
• Oil and gas exploration/petroleum industry experienced required
• Willing to travel (less than 20% travel)
• Working knowledge of ESRI / SDE desktop technology platforms, Tobin technology platform, and other applicable geospatial tools
• Thorough knowledge of industry applications and willingness to learn new technologies
• Familiarity working with GIS SQL databases, ESRI / SDE queries and reporting solutions
• Proven ability to prepare documentation / training materials and conduct user trainings
• Ability to complete multiple assignments and effectively prioritize time to meet deliverables
• Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams
