Job: Vehicle Installation Technician

Location: Overland Park, KS 66223

About the Job

Responsible for servicing customers by troubleshooting and maintaining vehicular mounted emergency, radio, and safety equipment. This includes installations, de-installations, maintenance, and field modifications using company approved methods and workmanship standards to ensure reliable performance of equipment. Our technicians are also responsible for guiding customers in the right direction with regard to installation options, being able to explain in detail the benefits of each product to meet or exceed our customers’ expectations and satisfaction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Install new and used equipment in vehicles according to customer specifications.
• Document service and installation action in accordance with company standard operating procedure.
• Perform electronic troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
• Adjust, repair, and/or replace defective wiring and relays in ignition, lighting, and safety control systems.
• Inspect and test electrical systems and equipment to locate and diagnose malfunctions.
• Reassemble and test equipment after repairs.
• Install new fuses, electrical cables, and power distribution sources as required.
• Locate, remove, and/or repair circuit defects such as blown fuses, circuit breakers, and defective emergency equipment.
• Confer with customers in a positive and professional manner to determine the nature of the vehicle malfunction.
• Wire displays for showroom and trade show booths.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Capable of making individual, quality decisions and efficiently managing time and company resources
• Excellent communication, customer service and problem solving skills
• Knowledge of 12-volt battery systems
• Technically savvy and possess the ability to read drawings
• Extensive knowledge in automobile wiring
• Experience with use of basic hand tools (i.e. crimpers, strippers, soldering iron, mini-torch, electric drill)
• Experience with basic to complex installations
• Experience with basic to complex
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• A High School degree or GED equivalent – Technical training preferred
• Minimum two years experience in the field
• Have all your own tools
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
