Experienced-Level position, specific to power plant main turbines and auxiliaries. Typical assignments are in the areas
of engineering or scientific design, problem solving, and technical support for the optimum operation and maintenance of company assets. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modifications and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of own field and related sciences or disciplines. Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization to resolve important questions. Directs, coordinates, and reviews the work of a small group of professionals.
Accountabilities:
- Develops new or improved techniques and procedures
- Develops, coordinates, and directs important project or field engineering assignments with complex features
- Keeps up to date on current technology
- Provides guidance on company codes and standards
- Provides technical expertise to others within and outside DTE Energy
- Provides work direction, training, and technical guidance as required
-Recommends and implements solutions to complex problems involving the engineering, design, operation, and
maintenance of company assets
- Interfaces with supply chain, outside departments, vendors, and suppliers
- Plans and manages group workflow to meet budgets and schedules
Typical assignments may include but are not limited to:
- Investigating equipment/performance problems and proposing solutions
- Preparing long and short-term repair/replacement plans, including costs
- Performing equipment inspections
- Using Continuous Improvement tools and techniques to solve problems and eliminate failures
- Providing technical support to plant personnel
- Creating and maintaining equipment “maps” to document condition, cause of failure and required action
- Preparing written procedures to facilitate construction, maintenance, and operation of equipment
Qualifications:
- Seven years of job-related experience with Main Turbine Generators, six years with a Master's degree, three years with a Doctorate degree.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specific work field/discipline
- Ability to give presentations, manage multiple projects, train and mentor others.
- Apply and interpret industry codes and standards in related discipline.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with people at all levels both within and outside the company.
- Knowledge of applications, equipment, and use of systems specific to work field or discipline.
