Title MANAGER - MARKET RESEARCH

Job Description PURPOSE:
Provide market research coordination and integration to assist in the development and implementation of
product business plans and the achievement of Novo Nordisk P&L goals for assigned products. Provide
strategic and tactical consultation to multiple levels of brand management and other functional areas via
portfolio-level and key brand primary market research. Helps marketing develop a strategic vision via in-depth
portfolio and brand-specific market analyses.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to Associate Director. Internal relationships include interactions with Marketing Effectiveness
colleagues, the brand teams, global market research and brand teams and at times members of Field Force
Effectiveness. Collaborate with available market research team members to achieve project execution of
specific research projects as assigned. External relationships include interactions with outside consultants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION: Develop and sustain close working relationships with key
stakeholders, primarily in the brand marketing team, but also in other departments as needed.
COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION: Develop presentations with clear storylines to communicate key
conclusions and recommendations.
COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION: Participate in the presentation of research results to appropriate
audiences
INTERNAL CLIENT SUPPORT: Consult with brand teams on proper focus and prioritization of marketing
research resources against brand needs.
INTERNAL CLIENT SUPPORT: Support Market Research in providing evidence-based guidance for new
product/lifecycle planning and business plan development as assigned; track potential marketing
opportunities/strategies and associated implementation as assigned
INTERNAL CLIENT SUPPORT: Support special business development functions as needed.
MARKET RESEARCH COORDINATION ANALYSES: Participate in the planning process via market-based
situation analysis to identify issues/opportunities and associated strategies/actions to address by working with
other members of Marketing Effectiveness
MARKET RESEARCH COORDINATION ANALYSES: Perform adhoc analyses as assigned to address issues
in support of business objectives
MARKET RESEARCH COORDINATION ANALYSES: Provide qualitative and quantitative marketing research
project support with associated budgets, timelines and relations with outside consultants.
MARKET RESEARCH COORDINATION ANALYSES: Provide support in executing and analyzing custom
qualitative and quantitative marketing research projects with actionable recommendations in
development/support of brand/portfolio strategy and tactics
MARKET RESEARCH COORDINATION ANALYSES: Receive direction from senior Market Research and
Competitive Intelligence colleagues to coordinate market research for portfolio-related projects
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT: Champion the Triple Bottom Line in Market Research and
internal strategy consulting
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT: Complete tactical and operational project components as
assigned
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT: Develop creative solutions to a variety of problems of
moderate scope and complexity.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT: Seek process improvement opportunities by questioning
existing processes, and proposing solutions
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT: Strive to maintain awareness of 'best practices' in market
research across industries by maintaining a current familiarity with data sources, MR techniques and MR
agencies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Approximately 15% overnight travel

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- A Bachelor’s degree required; MS or MBA preferred
- A minimum of at least 6 years pharmaceutical, consumer packaged goods, marketing, sales analysis
experience required of which 1 year primary market research or strategic consulting experience required
- Ability to work across functions, partnering with teams and other functional groups within Novo Nordisk
- Analytical and strategic thinking skills with ability to see big picture from scattered pieces of information and
present data in a clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrates ability to work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines, and provide recommendations
that will assist in the development of commercial strategies
- Strong understanding of both primary and secondary research sources (i.e. IMS Audits)
- Strong writing, presentation, project management and influencing skills necessary
- Work independently- gather input about needs from stakeholders and set own direction accordingly
