Job: Group Director, Operational Excellence - Global Operations, ASD

Location: Memphis, TN 37501

 


The Group Director for Operational Excellence guides all improvement activities globally with the following focus areas:



Driving the development, common appraisal and reporting of total cost productivity initiatives within ASD operations.



Embedding the balanced scorecard methodology within ASD operations through teaching probem solving principles and application of lean techniques.



Embedding the Smith & Nephew Way within ASD operations



This role will have dotted line responsibility for site OPEX/Lean personnel.


SCOPE OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:



For funds, costs or Profits:



Directs global projects with potential savings that outweigh the expenses of the project administration. Interacts with the SVP and his/her staff in project selection  and identifying projects for Lean/Six Sigma teams. Has extensive contact and influence over the site operations excellence Black Belts, Green Belts, or Project Champions as well as all parties associated with the projects.   May contract with training and/or support service suppliers in support of process improvement initiatives.



For Organization Influence:



Position addresses high profile, strategically important business processes targeted by the SVP of Global Operations - ASD and his/her staff for major improvement.  Serves to drive a cultural shift to a lean manufacturing environment across the organization to include methodical process improvement.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:





Assesses each sites progress in developing Total Cost Productivity and assists in the identification and development of productivity initiatives at the site level. Helps each site navigate the organization with a view to getting things done.



Acts as the main Ambassador of and for The Smith & Newphew Way. Drive its principles and techniques into the operating units of the company and teaches the methodology to all relevant personnel.






Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred



A minimum of 10 years experience operating global organization for a complex multi-site business that has experienced significant growth or change.
