The Pediatrix Medical Group and American Anesthesiology operating units, through their affiliated professional corporations, provide physician services including neonatology, maternal-fetal medicine, pediatric cardiology, pediatric intensive care, pediatric and OBGYN hospitalist services and anesthesiology.
Risk Manager
We are seeking a Corporate Healthcare Risk Manager for our Corporate office, located in Sunrise, FL.
The Risk Manager will receive and Investigate Adverse Occurrences, risk related peer review events, and patient complaints and analyze for risk liability exposure. Escalate and report to Director and/or VP matters that may need reporting to the professional liability carrier.
Provide tracking and trending of adverse events and/or malpractice claims, identifying trends for quality purposes. Provide analysis and make recommendations for improvement in order to promote patient safety.
Provide case management and make strategy recommendations for medical malpractice claims, as assigned.
Coordinate semi-annual Risk Management Sub-Committee meeting(s) for each region or division, as assigned.
Evaluate medical malpractice claims history of healthcare professionals through the New Hire, Re-credentialing or Due Diligence process.
Conduct Risk Management orientation training as needed. Develop and make recommendations for educational Risk Management programs based on needs assessment.
Monitor and track participation of healthcare providers in the online CML education program.
Manage the reporting of and final outcomes for healthcare providers involved in license investigations. Escalate to Director and/or VP any adverse findings by the Medical Board.
Collaborate with Compliance and Patient Accounts Department on Highly Sensitive Billing Disputes (HSBD) that have quality of care concerns or has a potential malpractice liability exposure. Escalate and report to Director and/or VP matters that may need further risk management involvement or reporting to the professional liability carrier.
Provide case management and make strategy recommendations for medical malpractice claims, as assigned.Monitor frequency and types of claims, prepare quarterly trending reports.
Develop educational Risk Management programs.

Requirements:
3-5 years risk management experience in a healthcare or large medical group practice or with medical malpractice claims management and incident reporting is required.
LNC or prior medical malpractice claims adjusters will also be considered.
CPHRM or Florida LHRM or ability to obtain designation is required.
Strong verbal/written communication skills required, along with proficiency with computer software systems.
