JOB DESCRIPTION
MANAGER OF COMMUNICATION
Hoosier Energy, a generation and transmission cooperative serving 18 member distribution systems in southern Indiana and southeastern Illinois, is seeking a replacement for the Manager of Communication, who is retiring in 2014. The position reports to the Vice President of Member Services and Communications at Hoosier Energy’s corporate headquarters located in Bloomington, Indiana.The Manager of Communication is responsible for:
- Developing communications strategies that support the cooperative’s mission, including managing; corporate communications, communications services to member systems, public and media relations programs, and the Touchstone Energy brand. The manager oversees a professional staff of 5 employees including two video production specialists.
- Providing communication services to member cooperatives including; production of video programs, planning member services meetings, writing, editing, speech writing, and photography services; working with distribution system managers who serve on a communications committee to develop consumer information programs.
- Managing corporate communication projects including; digital and print newsletters, the annual report, video programs, corporate and marketing collateral materials, and board, employee, and special meetings and events; creating content for Hoosier Energy’s website and intranet.
- Managing the Touchstone Energy brand including; serving as a regional partner, planning and implementing the Touchstone Energy brand strategy on behalf of member cooperatives that communicates brand values to consumers through a coordinated advertising program.
- Managing public and media relations programs including; serving as the contact for media queries, developing public relations plans carried out in communities where Hoosier Energy operates power plants.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business or a related field with a minimum of seven years experience in communication management. The applicant will be an experienced communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must also possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills, be highly motivated, a team player, self-directed and an effective problem solver.
