Job: Copywriter


JOB DESCRIPTION

COPYWRITER

We have an opportunity for an experienced Copywriter for product and business development focused copy, including print, packaging, web and video.  Position requires a BA in English, Journalism, Communications or related and a minimum 5 years of product-focused copywriting experience.

Position Responsibilities:
To generate creative ideas and write copy focused on product, training, and company branding across the following media: web, collateral, video and new media. Concept, write and develop compelling ideas and creative executions that address the request and requirements outlined in creative briefs. Creative executions must be on-brand and in line with the corporate style guide. In addition to copywriting, the copywriter will copy edit and proofread material, ranging from packaging to catalogs to promotional material as well as create PowerPoint presentations. Must be adept at copy editing and proofreading of materials at layout and print proof stages. Requires a keen eye for detail, as well as the creative ability to come up with strong headlines and body copy.

Specific Measures of Job Performance:

1. Successful copywriting of business-focused copy, including collateral, flyers and web content. Develop creative executions that result in the desired behavior of audience, including click-throughs, purchase and event attendance.

2. Successful copywriting of product-related projects including product launch materials, web banner, web pages, promotion-specific content and packaging. Develop creative executions that increase brand awareness and result in the desired behavior of audience, including click-throughs and purchase.

3. Maintain quality standards for proofreading and editorial functions related to business- and product-focused copy. Complete familiarity with corporate style guide and the initiative to drive updates to maintain currency and consistency.

Communications
Work closely with creative, web, business-focused and product-focused teams.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications
Education: B.A. in English, Journalism, Communications or related.

Technical/Industry Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of product-focused copywriting experience. Desirable: experience in consumer products or sporting goods industries.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent command of English grammar and usage, excellent written and spoken communications skills, attention-to-detail and capacity for compelling, creative copywriting.  Requires a keen eye for detail, as well as the creative ability to come up with strong headlines and body copy.  Web writing and PowerPoint skills a plus. Experience in the sporting goods, or consumer product industries a plus.

Behavioral Attributes:
Ability to take initiative and work independently, to work in a busy environment and still write clear, concise, compelling and creative copy. Ability to work with a team of editors and designers, as well as other departments. Desirable attributes include: client-focused, detail oriented and business professional.
